Through a variety of art forms I embrace imperfection, giving new attention to the unwanted and celebrating the unexpected.

I see immense beauty in the faded and overlooked and have a bit of an obsession with rusty or found objects, finding many ways to incorporate them into my work.

My practice has expanded since my days as a floral designer (also known as Firenza Floral Design/Firenza Flowers) and I now focus on installations, commissions, exhibitions and workshops.

work with me:

Installation & Land artist

I’ve been designing and creating installations for over ten years and take commissions for installations, sculptures, hanging installations or other pieces of art incorporating flowers, botanicals, paper or all.

‘The Cloud’ Hanging installation at Castle Howard

Land Art sculpture of found & discarded items - Harewood House

large scale installation for Sarah Raven at perch hill

Photographer

I take still life images commissions - floral vignettes & designs photographed in my beloved Old Masters / chiaroscuro style.

image commission for cards & other merchandise - Lowther Castle

I also sell selected images as prints or cards.

educator

I’ve been teaching sustainable and foam free floristry for over ten years in the UK and overseas.

If you would like me to teach at your flower school or venue, wherever it is in the world, I’d love to hear more - please get in touch.

Creative mentor

Having acquired an immense amount of knowledge I feel driven to pass it on to others.

From a career in high end colour printing handling top design agencies & global companies, to juggling the gamut of skills required to establish and develop my own thriving and ever-changing business.

I’ve acquired a wealth of knowledge, advice and insights which you can benefit from.

alternative ingredients

A well as designing with flowers, I also make handmade paper.

Tulip petal papyrus, paper made from dandelion clocks or mares tail; treasure journals from recycled packing materials with twigs for a spine. Anything I can experiment with in my ‘wet studio’, which lies just a few steps from my ‘floral pantry’ - the garden. I also extract pigments from the plants, rocks and earth in my garden and wider locale.

My studio

I work from home - a tiny upstairs space which is always full of distractions and inspiration, the paper gets made outside in the ‘wet workshop’, where I can make as much mess as I need and I spread out into the house to create bigger, floral pieces and installations.

My garden

Everything I create stems from my garden and carving out time to tend to it is one of my highest priorities.

I feel most at sea and unsettled when the garden gets neglected and falls apart, which inevitably happens when I’m busy working and travelling.

I’m constantly tweaking what I grow to fit with my ever-changing art (and tastes).

Let’s work together.

My work is varied and often hard to pigeon-hole, I love to work with a brief that is different, that pushes boundaries or explores the unknown. If you have the merest germ of an idea for creating something spectacular together I’d love to develop the idea further with you.
